Our Story

We’re Graeme, Shauna and Johnny the team behind Clappy Doo, and since 2009 we’ve been sharing our love of Scottish music, dance and tradition with audiences across Scotland and around the world.

The name Clappy Doo is uniquely Scottish, inspired by a large mussel traditionally found along Scotland’s east and north coasts. It reflects our deep roots in Scotland and the traditions we’re proud to share.

Bringing People Together

For us, a ceilidh is about much more than music. It’s about bringing people together, creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, and making memories that last long after the last dance.

Whether we’re performing at a castle wedding, a corporate event, a village hall or an international festival, our aim is always the same — to fill the dance floor with smiling faces.

We know that not everyone arrives knowing how to ceilidh dance, and that’s part of the fun. We guide every dance with plenty of encouragement, humour and audience participation, so whether you’re an experienced dancer or taking your very first steps, you’ll soon be joining in.

Alongside lively reels and jigs, we love sharing Scottish songs, stories and a healthy dose of Scottish humour, with a few surprises along the way that usually have everyone laughing.

We love telling the stories behind the songs, celebrating our traditions and giving people a genuine taste of Scottish hospitality.

Over the years, our music has taken us to some amazing places — including Singapore, Malaysia, China, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and across Europe.

Highlights include international festivals, live TV performances in China, and Hogmanay celebrations in Singapore.
